Hannah Parker, Ph.D., LMFT
Co-Founder
Hi, I'm Hannah, co-founder of The Bearings Collective. Bearings was born from the desire to create a service I needed throughout my journey with my own children. I have been in your shoes, from the sleepless nights and spiraling thoughts about my child's future to having nausea while they're at school, praying they are having a good day. My experiences with my children have driven my career goals. Personally and professionally, my work has always been grounded in the belief that children thrive when we better understand and support the world around them. That starts with seeing the whole child and supporting the parents who know them best.
Throughout my career, I've approached this work from many perspectives: as a counselor, educator, researcher, curriculum developer, and advocate. I have worked clinically with students and their families, while also spending my academic career studying how evidence-based practices can improve students' academic, social-emotional, and executive functioning outcomes. My research has specifically examined interventions with exceptional education students, including the development and study of Exceptional Student Success Skills, an evidence-based curriculum designed to support their success.
Today, I am an Associate Professor of Counselor Education and School Counseling Program Coordinator at Florida Atlantic University. I hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have published research on school counseling, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, and supporting students with exceptional needs, and I co-authored An Evidence-Based Systems Approach to School Counseling: Advocating Student-Within-Environment, a textbook focused on understanding and advocating for children within the environments that shape their lives.
The Bearings Collective brings these parts of my work together. I believe families deserve someone who understands the research and the school system, but also prioritizes the parent behind every decision. Sometimes that means helping you make sense of an evaluation or advocate at school. Other times, it means working through your own worry, finding your voice, or feeling more confident in a difficult decision. My role is to help you understand the whole picture, support your own well-being, and navigate what comes next while always recognizing that you know your child better than anyone.
