Parent Coaching
Parenting a child with unique abilities can be deeply rewarding, but it can also ask more of you than others may see or understand. You may find yourself worrying about the future, questioning whether you are making the right decisions, feeling frustrated after another difficult school conversation, or simply wondering if you are doing enough. Parent coaching gives you a place to talk about your experience while building the skills and confidence to better understand, support, and advocate for your child.
When so much of your energy goes toward appointments, school concerns, daily challenges, and making sure your child is okay, it is easy for your own needs to move to the bottom of the list. Coaching gives you dedicated time to work through the worry, sadness, frustration, guilt, or exhaustion you may be carrying. We focus on practical ways to manage stress, set boundaries, make room for your own needs, and find more balance and enjoyment in everyday life.
It can be difficult to speak up when you are sitting across a table from professionals or when you're unsure whether your concerns will be taken seriously. Maybe you left a school meeting wishing you had asked a different question, agreed to something you weren't sure about, or felt like the conversation moved forward without you. Coaching helps you become more comfortable asking questions, setting boundaries, expressing concerns, and confidently advocating for what your child needs.
School choice, testing, services, accommodations, therapies. Sometimes it feels like every decision could change your child's future. Coaching gives you a place to sort through competing advice, consider what is best for your child and family, and work through the fear of making the “wrong” choice. The goal is to help you make thoughtful decisions and move forward feeling confident in the path you have chosen.
An unexpected email from a teacher, a disagreement with a provider, or a tense conversation at home can quickly become overwhelming when emotions are already high. Coaching helps you think through what you want to say, communicate concerns clearly, manage difficult conversations, and work more effectively with the people supporting your child. These are skills that can strengthen relationships not only with schools and providers, but at home and throughout your life.
It can be hard to hear your child repeatedly described by what they struggle with: distracted, behind, difficult, unmotivated, too sensitive. Coaching helps you better understand what may be behind what you are seeing and recognize your child's strengths alongside the areas where they need support. As your own language shifts, you become better equipped to help teachers, providers, family members, and even your child see the fuller picture of who they are.
What to Expect
Parent coaching is individualized to you and your family. We use a solution-focused approach with evidence-based strategies to address what is happening in your life right now while building skills you can continue to use over time.
Weekly Sessions
Meet virtually for 60 minutes once a week. Sessions provide consistent time to talk through what is happening, work through challenges, practice new skills, and decide what you want to focus on next.
Support Between Sessions
Sometimes a challenge happens on Tuesday, and your next session is not until Friday. Secure messaging lets you share a brief update, ask a focused question, or get support using strategies we have discussed. Messages are reviewed during business hours and are intended for brief guidance between sessions. We will address concerns that require more time or deeper discussion during a session.
What are your fees?
Fees vary by service and may be structured as an hourly rate or package-based pricing depending on the type and level of support provided. For a detailed fee schedule or to discuss which services may be the best fit for your family, please contact us.
