Learning Differences

dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia

A learning difference can show up in many ways.

A child who is bright, curious, and full of ideas, yet reading, writing, or performing calculations seem harder than they should. In the classroom, they may work at a slower pace, avoid certain tasks, struggle to get their thoughts on paper, or need more repetition than their peers. A child who works hard to hold themselves together all day may become easily frustrated or tearful when faced with homework. These struggles may be connected to learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia. Understanding what makes learning difficult is an important first step toward providing the right kind of support.
