Educational Support Planning
Educational planning meetings (IEP, 504 Plans, SAP, EP) can feel deeply personal and emotionally draining. Special education comes with its own language, timelines, and documentation, and families are expected to make important educational decisions while they are still processing a diagnosis and learning what it may mean for their child. Because IEPs, 504 Plans, and EPs are legal educational documents, the details matter. We come to the table with a thorough understanding of your child, their educational needs, and clear recommendations for moving forward. We advocate alongside you while helping keep the conversation positive, productive, and centered on your child.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation
We start by getting to know your child, your concerns, and what you hope to accomplish. This gives us the context needed to understand what matters most to your family.
Records Review & Meeting Roadmap
We carefully review your child's educational records and evaluation, then identify priorities and develop a clear roadmap for moving forward. When appropriate, we help coordinate information and recommendations from the professionals involved in your child's care, including neuropsychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physicians, and interventionists.
Meeting Attendance & Advocacy
We attend the planning meeting at your child's school alongside you to ask questions, clarify information, and advocate for your child's needs. We ensure that the educational plan reflects the evaluation findings and that identified needs are meaningfully connected to appropriate goals, accommodations, services, and supports. Throughout the meeting, we keep the conversation collaborative and focused on your child.
Reflection & Recommendations
After the meeting, we provide a written reflection and review of the completed plan for your records. Our goal is to ensure the evaluation, specialist recommendations, intervention plan, and school-based supports work hand in hand, so important questions are answered, the adults supporting your child share the same understanding, and nothing essential in your child's academic and social journey is left to chance.
Bearings Educational Support Planning helps you walk into the meeting prepared, feel supported at the table, and leave knowing what comes next.
