FAQs
What are your fees?
Fees vary by service and may be structured as an hourly rate or package-based pricing depending on the type and level of support provided. For a detailed fee schedule or to discuss which services may be the best fit for your family, please contact us.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance. Academic testing and educational services are generally not covered by health insurance. Bearings Collective is an approved Step Up For Students provider, and eligible families may be able to use scholarship funds toward qualifying services.
What ages do you work with?
We work with children and adolescents from age 3 through 12th grade. Services are tailored to each child’s developmental stage, learning needs, and educational setting.
Do you work with parents, children, or both?
Both. Services may include parent coaching and educational planning with parents, direct academic intervention with children, or a combination of supports based on your family’s needs.
Does my child need a diagnosis to work with Bearings?
No. Families may come to Bearings before, during, or after an evaluation or diagnosis. Many services do not require a formal diagnosis, and support can begin as soon as concerns arise.
What types of needs do you support?
We work with families navigating a wide range of learning, developmental, behavioral, and emotional needs, including ADHD, autism, anxiety, executive functioning differences, giftedness, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, other learning differences, and twice-exceptionality.
What types of schools and educational settings do you work with?
We support families in public, private, independent, specialized, and homeschool settings. We support children and their families with individualized educational planning, curriculum decisions, understanding learning needs, academic intervention, annual evaluation needs, and planning for future educational transitions rather than being tied to a particular school system.
Can you help us decide which school or educational setting is right for our child?
Yes. We can help families consider public, private, specialized, homeschool, and other educational options based on the child’s needs, available supports, and family priorities.
How are services provided?
Services are available virtually and in person, depending on the service and your family’s needs. Academic intervention may also be provided at a child’s school when permitted and when scheduling allows.
Do families work with Bearings long-term?
It depends on your needs. Some families come to us for a single consultation, meeting, or decision, while others benefit from ongoing coaching, intervention, educational planning, and coordination.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation and rescheduling policies vary by service and are outlined before services begin. Recurring academic intervention appointments reserve dedicated time for your child and are subject to the cancellation terms included in your service agreement.
